Here's an example of Miss Thomas's writings for children:
Parent's Song
(at bedtime)
Sleep, little child, rest your little head
the story's over, it's time to go to bed.
And when you sleep I wish you good dreams
of songs and treats of cake and ice cream,
of elves and magic from that secret world you know,
of rain and sun and rainbows and snow.
And when you wake to give a smile and yawn
as you look out to see the pretty dawn.
Sleep, my child, it's time to go to bed.
The stars will dance to the music in your head.
In your dreams you'll be dancing in the sky.
You'll be amazed at how fast time goes by.
Soon you'll wake to see the sun's array
and you'll be happy to start a brand new day.
Good night, little child, the days are so few
that I can tuck you in before I say goodnight to you.
